Original Poppy Cakes founder Ann Hortman has always loved to cook and bake for her family and friends.  Inspired by her Great Aunt Lida Connaster a high school Home Economics teacher in Sevierville, Tennessee, Ann grew up learning the basic skills of preparing the most delicious baked goods.  Using the freshest ingredients, scientific baking skills, and a few secrets from her Aunt Lida, Ann has perfected her cooking and baking skills over the years and continues to share her talents with her friends and family.

After several years of friendly "nagging" from friends and family, Ann decided to focus on her most requested recipe, her Poppy Seed Cake.  Known for its moist texture, rich beautiful color, crispy outside crust, and melt in you mouth flavor, Ann's Poppy Seed cake has always been a favorite.  After hearing over and over again, "you need to sell this cake", Ann took that advice and Original Poppy Cakes was born.
